WOW!!! There is only one word that I think could describe what happend at the weekend and that word is... "EPIC" Over 100 men, woman, girls and boys signed on and braved the cold and wet conditions to raise money for the Royal British Legion Charity. Whats mind blowing was that the youngest rider was just 5 years old...while the oldest rider was a amazing 66 years old.
The event almost didn't happen because South Yorkshire had heavy rain for weeks on end leading up to the event and the venue got flooded mid-week...luckily the rain eased off and the water retreated. Saturday practice however the heavy rains returned which made riding very difficult and a few riders decided not to race on Sunday. Rain was forecast for Sunday as well but thank god we got lucky and it ended up to be a fine day.
Big shout out to the Redbull team who kept everyone hydrated on the day |
The raffle on the day was a huge success and I would like to thank everyone who donated prizes to the cause. The raffle alone raised over £500...you all were buying tickets like mad. Big shout out to Phil Auld owner of Dirtyrides MTB Apparel who donated a custom jersey for the top raffle prize.
All in the grand total was a whopping £1672.35...my best total to date. All this was possible because of you guys and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart...you guys are amazing.
